The Birthday Box Project, our most current project, in partnership with Dawn Wiggins (founder of New Dementians) involves crafting personalized "Birthday Boxes'' for individuals living with dementia in care communities. We believe in celebrating people's lives, especially on birthdays. The Birthday Boxes will be customized gifts and experiences given to care partners, communities, and agencies for FREE.
From talking with many care communities, activities directors, admin, and family members, we saw a need for individualized & customized birthday gifts & experiences. Many of the individuals we talked with expressed the need for affordable birthday gifts as many of their activities & recreation budgets are limited. Everyone deserves a special gift on their birthday, we want to make sure they get one.
Of the individuals we talked to, 77% of them can only afford once a month, communal birthday parties.
On average these individuals serve 44 individuals or residents.
Inside of the box we are including multiple different small items such as name-brand toiletries, fuzzy socks with grips, customized photo frames, birthday-related decorations, blankets, handwritten birthday cards from the community, and more. Note: The items inside will differ based on the donations received.

Right now, we are currently looking for financial donations, items inside of the kits, and birthday cards.
